Saint Mary's Point Hockey Association welcomes all girls and boys that either live in or attend school in the ISD834 school boundary.
Refer to Section IV. PARTICIPATION of the Minnesota Hockey Handbook - Youth Rules and Regulations for the types of and restrictions for Waivers.
See below for a summary interpretation of the rule and what it means for playing hockey at Saint Mary's Point.
A player's participation in a specific hockey association is determined by Minnesota Hockey's Participation Rule. In general, youth hockey players must register and participate with the association whose boundaries incorporate the player's residence or the player's school. Under the current rule, players have the option of essentially playing where they live or where they go to school.
SMP is governed by USA Hockey and Minnesota Hockey, through an affiliation agreement . In the affiliate agreements, Minnesota Hockey defines the geographical boundaries and jurisdiction of its member hockey associations.
In order for your child to participate on ice at SMP, we are asking that you do the following as soon as possible and before evaluations (if applicable):
(1) Get a Waiver from the President of your home association.
Your home association should provide the Waiver form.
(2) Once the Waiver is completed and signed by your home association President, please send the waiver via email to the SMP Hockey Membership Administrator.
(3) The SMP Hockey Membership Administrator will next obtain the required signature from our governing President and then email the form to you to bring back to your home District - for signature by the Releasing District Director. To find your District Director click on this link: https://www.minnesotahockey.org/associations
(4) You will finally return the form back to the SMP Hockey Membership Administrator for approval/signature by the our District 2 Director - as the Receiving District.
